Bluetooth technology firms such as Intel and Philips is about to invent a blood pressure monitor that will have a wireless link facility to a PC or Cell phone. The Bluetooth SIG is planning to go for health-related applications for the consumer communications technology with this development.
Moreover, IBM, Intel, Motorola, Nonin Medical, Philips Electronics and Welch Allyn, all set to make a Bluetooth Medical Device Profile. It will endorse the use of Bluetooth technology as a new group of medical and fitness products.
There are some Bluetooth medical devices with proprietary technology already in the market. The coming design profile will boost interoperability and propagate the use of the technology.
Michael Foley, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG says,
Bluetooth technology ideally suites for medical devices. It will provide a better quality of life for patients while reducing the cost of healthcare too.
