The researchers at the Rutgers University have succeeded in exploiting the gaming concepts to counterpart the suffering of the stroke patients. They have used an Xbox and Essential Reality P5 glove controller to create a hand exercise system.
However, the system is not so efficient in terms of accuracy or resolution but it costs about one-tenth of the virtual reality rehabilitation systems. The concept is so simple. One game asks the patient to wipe clean four vertical bars of “dirty” pixels in order to give proper movement to the hand while in another game, the patient has to make a fist swift enough to scare the butterfly hovering around the screen.
The pricing is the key promotional factor for this system. Moreover, the researchers have added that the system could further be implemented for home-care.
