Now ‘Electronic Nose’ will smell disease, drugs, bombs and money other sickness. An Italian-French-Spanish team is developing this device and calling the project as ‘Spot Nosed’ project. The European Commission’s FET (Future and Emerging Technologies) funds this Spot-Nosed (Single Protein Nanobiosensor Grid Array) project
Nanobiosensors detects odour molecules with greater accurateness, gives result that is beyond expectation. The team is now focusing on the technology’s potential health applications. This could lead to new tests for the presence of disease molecules in patients’ breath, urine or blood.
Spot-Nosed-based devices will replace the expensive scans and invasive techniques in future. This will help to screen large groups of people with high-risk developing diseases. This ‘E-Nose’ has many more qualities such as detecting bombs and drugs. That will help the police officials to detect the illegal trade and terrorist activities.
