To combat Parkinson’s disease FDA(U.S. Food and Drug Administration ) has announced the approval of first skin patch called Neupro that is especially designed to treat Parkinson’s disease symptoms and other uncontrolled movements.

This disease is originated by the degeneration of certain brain cells those are held responsible for producing chemical called dopamine. Though, dopamine can be cured by using certain pills but the treatment results ineffectual.

This new method to cure Parkinson’s disease also encloses same type of medication as pills that enhance the concentration of dopamine in the brain and as compared to pills this new patch delivers the continuous stream of dopamine to the body so that it remains constant during the day.

According to Dr. Charles Bernick of Las Vegas neurology center:

The fundamental problem with Parkinson’s disease is there’s loss of nerve cells that produce dopamine and these are in areas that are primarily involved in movement. And thus you get the symptoms typically seen by individuals like Muhammad Ali, where they have lack of movement, lack of expression, difficulty walking. And all the drugs we use are targeted to try to improve these symptoms.

The new innovation also releases the same side effects as pills do that comprises: Allergic skin reactions, Dizziness, Nausea and Sleepiness.

However, Neupro is not yet available in the market but now after getting positive FDA approval it will hit the market very soon.

Thanks to the new innovation, Neupro, that now helps Parkinson patients live a normal life, which earlier were doomed to live a life not more than 5 years after diagnosis.
