Scientists have always remained busy with finding out new ways to fight skin cancer. Now, Professor Ifor Samuel from St Andrews University and Dr. James Ferguson, head of photobiology at Ninewells Hospital have come out with a light-emitting bandage that would help fight skin cancer.
The bandage is very similar to the normal bandage, the only difference is that it is based on Photodynamic therapy treatment (PDT) and emanates light when the low voltage electric current is passed through it with a portable battery.
This means that patients can move around freely when they are undergoing treatment for skin cancer. The light-emitting bandage is a low cost and easy to use alternative to treat the patients with skin cancer.
