MIT scientist develop nano implant to monitor cancer

The scientist of Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a tiny implant made of Nanoparticles that when implanted in the human body can monitor the growth of tumor and the effect of chemotherapy on the tumor. It is not the first time that nanoparticle has been used but it is the first time that the scientist at MIT has encased them in a silicone delivery device for the first time. The Professor who is leading the research, Michel Cima said, ‘You really want to have some sort of rapid measure of whether chemotherapy is working … or whether you should go on to the next drug.” The research was presented before the European Cancer Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers meeting. Note that the picture is not of the nano implant developed by the scientists.
