ultrasound

This new medical device applies quantitative ultrasound technology to count the emboli in the blood stream.

A Virginia company, Luna Innovations Inc., has innovated this new device Embolus Detection and Classification Quantifier (EDAC Quantifier) system. The primary release of EDAC Quantifier system is not for medical use.

It identifies microemboli at rates up to 1000 per second using advanced ultrasound technology. Emboli may enter the blood stream during invasive medical procedures in the form of air bubble or solid form. It causes neurological disorders and fatalities.

The EDAC Quantifier system enumerates the emboli rates in ex-vivo circuits. It might give the readings of time motion representation of individual emboli tracks, emboli rates and growing emboli counts.
