New Mexico Tech researchers have found a new method to identify cancer cells at an early stage and to destroy them by developing a miniature sensor that works by means of a nanoparticle’s light-emanating properties.
The researchers have claimed the new sensor an effective way to treat numerous genetic-based diseases like sickle cell anemia. Professor Peng Zhang cited that their next step will be aimed at modifying the nanoparticle sensors in order to kill the cancer cells.
