Esaote S.p.A is using the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Technology of Texas Instruments Inc. to good effect.
One of the technologies powered by this DSP technology is called XStrain™ and is installed on Esaote’s new MyLab™ XVision series of ultrasound systems. The technology is modeled as ‘advanced cardiac technique for myocardial function evaluation.
This latest technology from Esaote is a breakthrough in imaging systems. It integrates a new method to estimate and quantify endocardial velocities of contraction and relaxation and also measure the local deformation of the heart.
This technology will help researchers explore and quantify the aspects of heart’s physiology which till now was not possible with the present ultrasound technologies.

XStrain™ relies on an angle-independent technology which allows it to assess the contractibility of both the left and the right ventricles.
According to the company’s web site XStrain™ means:
• eXtensive potential applications
• Innovation and non-invasiveness
• Angle-independent technology
• User-friendly interface
• Comprehensive measurement possibilities
• Intuitive workflow
